Northern Health Futures Hub
Northern Health Futures (NortHFutures) is a collaborative digital health hub that addresses unmet health and care needs of populations in the North East and North Cumbria (NENC) region of the UK.
NortHFutures funds and facilitates responsible cross-sector health-tech design research, innovation, training, and knowledge exchange.
We are a consortium uniting:
- 8 UK universities, with six located in NENC
- 7 regional NHS Foundation Trusts plus NENC Integrated Care Board
- 50+ core partners across industry, health & care, public & voluntary sectors
- £7m programme (£4.17m EPSRC and UKRI supported)
Funded by UKRI/EPSRC until July 31st 2027, NortHFutures has established a pioneering ecosystem that empowers people to engage and lead in digital health initiatives.
We take a community-centred approach and are committed to humanising health-tech by championing equity, participation, and investment across the region.
Our main focus is to deepen research involvement in digital health research by the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector.
We practice participant-led user research and evaluation of tools and resources to strive for the design of useable and useful technologies and services.
